Dubai International Boat Show 2014

New products and increased spending reveals strength of Dubai’s Yachting Community

Elcome International and Gulf Development Systems, the regions leading yachting technology integrators, are doubling their significant presence at the Dubai International Boat Show, taking place in March 4th- 8th at Mina Al Seyahi. The two companies are working closely together to provide the broadest and highest quality product portfolio for yachts of all sizes, from small pleasure boats up to the world’s largest mega yachts.

“Our stand is bigger than a basketball court this year, a clear sign of our enthusiasm and commitment to the yachting community in the region” said Jimmy Grewal, Executive Director of Elcome. The stand, located in the outdoor exhibition area, will feature live demonstrations, product giveaways from Raymarine, in-depth product seminars and a knowledgeable English and Arabic-speaking staff.

This year, a young ambitious UAE national from Zayed University was involved in planning for the boat show. The internship program enabled her to participate in one of the fastest growing leisure maritime industry exhibitions in the world. “Our intern had a very rewarding and informative internship at Elcome/GDS and I’m pleased to see her actively participating at Dubai International Boat Show,” said William McCarthy, Assistant Professor at Zayed University.

In addition to the companies’ long-standing partner Raymarine, exciting new products from the following manufacturers will also be launched in the region for the first time:

  • Hulltimo is a revolutionary leisure boat cleaner. It utilizes a robot cleaner that functions while the boat is immersed in water. Boat owners will no longer have to remove their boat from the water to clean it.
  • Aquabotix Hydro View Pro is the ultimate mini remote operated vehicle (ROV), allowing real time high definition viewing of all angles of a boat underwater. This easy to use product requires no formal training and is ideal for shipyards, boat owners and other boat service providers. It includes LED lights, depth, temperature and orientation sensors, as well as integration with the Apple iPad and other mobile devices.

Elcome International LLC was founded in Dubai in 1969 with the goal of providing world-class marine electronic sales and support in the region. Elcome is a system integrator, distributor, installer and after-sales service agent of marine products, systems and solutions. Recently, Elcome International was ranked fifth in the biannual Dubai SME 100 ranking of the top small and medium enterprises in Dubai.

Gulf Development Systems (GDS), founded in 1982, has been a leading sales and 24/7 service provider of world-class marine navigation, communication and safety products for both commercial and yachting markets. Dubai based GDS represents leading brands such as Raytheon, Flir, Maris, Orolia (Kannad), Cobham SATCOM, Hammar, Jotron, etc.

Those interested viewing live demonstrations of new products should visit the Elcome/GDS stand (EX-01) located outdoor at the Dubai International Boat Show in Mina Seyahi March 4th until March 8th.
